HOPE partners with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP) for recruiting and scheduling volunteer groups; however, HOPE's Volunteer Service Program does NOT operate under the same guidelines as ASP's Summer Volunteer Program. Specif
ic
differences include:
Application and FeesThere is a group registration fee to secure your group's spot in HOPE's summer program. There is a volunteer fee per person for one week, which includes lodging at HOPE's Volunteer Center and the cost of materials. At least 30% of the volunteer fee goes directly towards materials. The more volunteers we have, the higher the percentage of materials we can buy. Application and fees information for the summer program will be posted in early Spring 2009. Rules and ExpectationsHOPE has established certain Rules and Expectations to make the Volunteer Service Program operate as smoothly and efficiently as possible. All volunteers MUST read and abide by these Rules and Expectations. Click here for HOPE's Volunteer Service Program Rules and Expectations (pdf). Area AttractionsSouthwest Virginia offers many recreational and historical attractions for volunteers to enjoy during their visit. Hiking, biking and nature activities abound.
